Eid al-Adha, the second of the two major Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year, marks the conclusion of the Hajj pilgrimage. It symbolizes sacrifice, faith, and obedience to Allah SWT commandments.
Eid al-Adha 2024 is anticipated to fall from the evening of Sunday June 16 until the evening of Thursday June 20, subject to the sighting of the moon. It is a time for prayer, reflection, and gratitude, as Muslims worldwide come together to honour Prophet Ibrahim AS unwavering devotion to Allah SWT.
Qurban, derived from the Arabic word 'qurbān,' meaning sacrifice, is a fundamental aspect of Eid al-Adha. Muslims offer a prescribed animal as an act of worship and obedience. The meat is distributed among family, neighbours, and those in need, fostering unity and compassion within the community.
Qurban is obligatory for Muslims who meet specific criteria, including possessing wealth beyond their basic needs and fulfilling other conditions outlined in Islamic jurisprudence. The act of Qurban reflects one's commitment to faith, charity, and compassion towards others.
The timing for Qurban coincides with the days of Eid al-Adha, following the performance of the Eid prayer. It is recommended to perform Qurban on the 10th, 11th, or 12th of Dhul-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. By promptly fulfilling your Qurban obligation, you participate in the timeless act of worship of sacrifice and charity upheld by Prophet Ibrahim AS.
As Eid al-Adha approaches, let us embrace the spirit of sacrifice, generosity, and community.
With The Herdsman, your trusted partner in Singapore, you can fulfil your Qurban obligation with ease and sincerity. May this Eid bring blessings, joy, and spiritual fulfilment to all.

Kejeruan Metar Bilad Del (KMBD) collaborated with PT Alyah Rizq Agriculture and The Herdsmen, slaughtering 1,000 sacrificial animals to celebrate Eid al-Adha 1444 H.
These sacrificial animals were distributed to mosque administrators, foundations, and individuals across various areas in North Sumatra. Mentioned by the King of Kejeruan Metar Bilad Deli, Tengku Muhammad Fauzi, in his press release on Saturday 01st of July. The total aid of sacrificial animals slaughtered at the Bunut Yayasan Sinar Husni field, Jalan Banten Dusun IX.A, Desa Helvetia Kecamatan Labuhandeli, last Thursday, recorded 1,000 goats and 20 cows.
Not only were they distributed to Muslim residents in Medan and its surrounding areas, but the sacrificial animals were also distributed to Langkat, Deli-Serdang, and Medina districts.
The King mentioned that the distribution of sacrificial animals has entered its third year as they strive to promote Islamic values for the benefit of the community. The coordination of the distribution of sacrificial animals was managed by the Royal Secretariat, Datok traditional officials, and Datok Limpah Kumia.
The slaughtering process was conducted on-site and then distributed to the needy. It is hoped that the King, who holds the title Al Mulk Akbar Shah Toni Tengku Zaini, through this ongoing social service program, will strengthen the relationship between Kejeruan Metar Bilad Deli and the community.
The main focus of Kejeruan Metar Bilad Deli's activities, according to the King, is to prioritize the perfect implementation of worship. Present at the distribution of sacrificial animals were representatives from The Herdsmen Singapore, Ridwan, and from PT Allyah Kizq Agriculture, Asraft Bakar.
